Today I went to ikebukuro to watch a festival. It was the area’s festival. It was called fukuro matsuri which means owl festival. It was interesting to watch. They had these things that looked like mobile shines that a bunch of people would carry. You can't seem them in the pictures I don't think. There were probably like 6-7 of them. I didn’t understand any of it but they seemed to be having fun carrying it. The people carrying it bounced up and down while they carried it. There were maybe 25 people carrying each one.
After the festival we went to a grocery store. They didn’t have any big carts, only small ones. Come to think of it my host mother goes out to the grocery store almost every day. I don’t think Japanese buy very much food at one time. Probably, they only buy enough for one-two days or so. We had chicken, salad, rice and miso soup for dinner. We always have salad, miso soup, and rice every dinner.
I’ve been trying to study Japanese more. I get a lot of inspiration out of just being here but it’s still hard to do it. I think I’m pretty slow with languages. Ah well, I’ll get it if I put enough work into it even if it takes me longer than some people.
I didn’t post a blog yesterday because nothing really happened. Actually this weekend was really boring. Hopefully I’ll have more to say tomorrow. Enjoy the pictures.
Learning a language takes a good long while.
